Greetings from the Bangkok Airport, where we’re getting ready to depart for Chennai, India. But before we go here are some lovely images to share with you.
Ayutthaya…

Dragons light the night
Sukkhothai…

Ambiguous-Gender Buddha
Koh Tao…

Aaahhhh
Bangkok…

At the Erawan Shrine, first you buy some flower garlands…

…then you light some incense…

…then you add your offering of beautiful flowers to all the others.
The Northeast…

Solar power
Phnom Rung & Prasat Muang Tam…
(thought to have been prototypes for Angkor Wat)

A bright spot amid the ruins

All that arises passes away

Stone of many colors

With all the patience of the centuries

Phimai…
(also thought to have been a prototype for Angkor Wat)

Even temple ruins have spirit houses
OK now we’re off to India… hope all is well with all of you, and that the Democrats don’t self-destruct…

Postcard photos, or what? Early visitors get the shot? In the long shots of the various prototype temples, there are no people. How’d you manage that?
Have fun in India!
Big hugs to both of you! Love, Allen

Beautiful pics, thanks for sharing!
I hope the Democrats don’t self-destruct either!! I have this nagging worry that they (we) will defy all odds and loose this election, regardless of who we pick.

But I guess loosing the election would be better than losing it. Hehe!

Hellooo! Yes, watching CNN coverage of all the “he said-she said” a week or so ago was painful. But now we’re in mercifully tv-less Pondicherry, India, with no clue! Yay! Hope the democrats are getting back on track.
About the fact that there are few/no people in these temple photos:
Our secret is, instead of going to well-known popular places like Angkor Wat, go to places that are just as spectacular — and even more ancient — but which no one has heard of! (Have you ever heard of Phimai? Neither had we!) It was such a pleasure to amble over on foot from our comfy guest house to these beautiful ruins, and wander around the ruins with almost no other people. Angkor Wat is undoubtedly really awesome and worth all the crowds and struggle, but… we had a great time in Phimai!
Now we are in India, which is a whole new world. We’re working on a new blog entry, hope to post it soon…. And we miss you all!!
